Adom FM Kintampo correspondent Wiafe Akenten reports that doctors at the Kintampo Government Hospital has confirmed that sixty-three passengers have perished in an accident that happened Wednesday night.
But the reporter doubts the figure saying some referrals were made, and it is believed that some of the referred victims died on the way to Tachiman Hospital.
He however reports that he has seen about twenty-five surviving victims who are in Kintampo Hospital.
Sunyani Metro Mass Transit Manager Emmanuel Kusi tells Adom FM Dwaso Nsem Host Captain Smart that about fifteen children were on board of the bus.
However, about thirteen children on board have died, reports say.
Meanwhile, one surviving child, a KG2 pupils who only gave his name as Awuni tells the reporter that the bus moved from Kumasi towards a town in the Northern Region.
Awuni says he was going to the North with his grandmother, Kande whom he hasn't seen after the accident.
Wiafe Akenten reports that there is a shortage in drugs at the Kintampo Government Hospital due to the number of victims brought to the facility.
A medical doctor at the Kintampo Government Hospital who in a rush couldn't mention his name says the deceased victims include pregnant women and children under five years.
There is a shortage in Oxygen, common medicine, there is also not enough space at the emergency ward.
The doctor added that only one aged ambulance which could only convey two patients at a time.
The hospital is still struggling to get an ambulance to transport some victims who are in critical condition to nearby hospital.
Acting Manager of National Ambulance Service says Brong Ahafo Region has only twelve ambulances of which he confirmed about five are not functioning as at now due to technical challenges.
Meanwhile, there are twenty-seven districts and municipal assemblies in the region.
Brong Ahafo Region has a population oftwo million, three hundred and ten thousand, nine hundred and eighty-three (2310983) as at June 2012 during the general elections according to Google search engine.
Wiafe Akenten reports that not even all the districts has an ambulance.
Alhassan Bashiru who survived in the cargo track says the bus made and overtaken and accidentally collided with the truck.
According to Alhassan, they were five passenger on board of the truck.
