NDC executives remanded for stealing

The Mpraeso Magistrate Court in the Eastern Region has remanded into police custody, five NDC executives after they were charged with stealing property belonging to the District Chief Executive (DCE).

NDC deputy secretary of the Mpraeso constituency Osei Boney told Joy News the DCE, Mr. Joseph Omari Sasu, abused his position to get them behind bars.

“We went to the police to make complaint but the police have turned the case against us because the DCE is having more powers, we have been remanded just this morning for one week,” he narrated.

Five including the Mpraeso constituency chairman were discussing party issues with the DCE when issues got heated ending in a scuffle on Thursday.

The DCE later accused the executives of stealing his mobile phone and a cash amount of 800 Ghana cedis. They have been kept on remand at the Nkawkaw Central Police station.

Meanwhile, scores of angry National Democratic Congress foot soldiers this morning besieged the Kwahu South district assembly demanding the removal of the District Chief Executive.

The party faithfuls are unhappy with Mr. Joseph Omari Sasu for causing the arrest of the party executives.
The DCE is also alleged to have sprayed pepper on some officials of the party when they visited him in his office yesterday.
