Some taxi drivers who ply the Pokuase Amanfrom – Odumase
road in the Ga West Municipality have threatened not to partake in the upcoming
November 7 polls if the government fails to tar their roads.
The taxi drivers told Adom News that the protest is a means of calling on government to give them their fair share of the national cake.
The bad road network, commercial drivers said makes them spend heavily on spare
parts.
“I spend almost all I get in the week to buy spare parts on weekends, meanwhile
my wife and kids are looking up to me for something at the end of the day”, one
driver, Papa Ike lamented.
He continued that “A journey that is supposed to take only twenty minutes now
takes us hours to get to our destinations.
“It takes us more than an hour to drive to and from Odumase leaving passengers
stranded at the station”, Nana Brobbey, another driver complained.
The drivers say they have no option than to declare “NO ROAD NO VOTE” since all
efforts to get their grievances addressed through their seniors have proven
futile.
“We have been lied to for decades; we have now learned our lessons. We say NO
ROAD, NO VOTE”, Papa Ike, noted.
