BOLE TEACHERS ARE NOT GOOD ENOUGH – EDU DIRECTOR

The Education Director in Bole in the Northern region has incurred the wrath of teachers there for describing them as unqualified for awards.

Leocardia Zakpala is reported to have stated at an event that teachers in the district are not good enough to merit any recognition.

She also claimed that the poor performance of pupils in the BECE in the area is a clear manifestation that the teachers are not doing their work well.

But the teachers say they are rather not interested in awards because there is not enough motivation.

Secretary of the district head teachers’ association Zakaria Aliduis told Starr News other factors other than teaching materials contribute to a teacher’s performance.

“A teacher maybe in a school doing well but because of other factors the children may not pass the BECE and that is not the only criteria to be used.

“In fact, other factors such as your human relations and the way you interact with the entire community are necessary in determining who is a good teacher or not,” he said.
