EC disqualifies PPP and 12 other presidential candidates

Thirteen persons seeking to lead the country in the near future had their ambitions crashed when they were disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC) Monday afternoon.

The thirteen including big shots in the politics of this country were disqualified by the EC for failing to meet at least one of the requirements set out by the Commission.

While some could not fill the nomination forms, others also had persons who were unfit to cast votes also recommending their candidature.

The big casualties include Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom of the PPP, former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama of the PNC, Hassan Ayariga of the APC and Madam Akua Donkor of the GFP.

Dr Edward Nasigre Mahama  - Peoples National Convention (PNC)
Nana Agyenim Boateng - United Front Party (UFP)
Kofi Apaloo - Independent People’s Party (IPP)
Kwabena Adjei aka ‘Gyata Ba’ - Reformed Patriotic Democrats (RPD)
Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom - Progressive People’s Party (PPP)
Dr Henry Lartey - Great Consolidated Popular Party (GCPP)
W.O Tetteh -  United Development System Party (UDSP)
Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings - National Democratic Party (NDP)
T. N Ward Brew - Democratic People’s Party (DPP)
Alfred Kwame Walker, Independent candidate
Akua Donkor - Ghana Freedom Party (GFP)
A thirteenth candidate, Akwasi Addai 'Odike' of the United Progressive Party has up till October 14, 2016 to sort out a legal matter affecting his legitimacy as leader of the party.
Only four individuals, the EC Boss said were fit to contest for President in the December polls.
The four are: John Dramani Mahama - National Democratic Congress (NDC); Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo - New Patriotic Party (NPP); Ivor Kobina Greenstreet -Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and Jacob Osei-Yeboah, an Independent candidate.

Meanwhile, the All People's Congress (APC) had earlier threaten to sue the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for plagiarizing its manifesto ideas.
A statement by General Secretary of the party, Razak Kojo Opoku says the NPP 2016 manifesto policies unveiled at the Ghana International Trade Fair on Sunday were replete with ideas the APC had already put out.
"The NPP leadership has exhibited highly gross academic dishonesty," the statement, describing the NPP as "Kalyppo People's Party."
The APC statement did not reveal when such a suit would be filed against the NPP.
