The first flight for Hajj 2016 took off from the refurbished Tamale International Airport around 3pm Ghana time with 500 Pilgrims enroute to Madina in Saudi Arabia.
The flight took off after President John Dramani Mahama had commissioned the upgraded Tamale Airport to an international Standard.
President Mahama earlier promised to face lift some of Ghana's airports which the Tamale Airport is one to an international standard early this year.
He has finally honored that promise.
The newly commissioned International Airport will not only save burden of traveller's but also reduce traffic at the Kotoka International Airport.
It will however boost tourist earnings since many indigens who have interest in visiting the numerous attraction sites in the Northern part of Ghana land directly at the area.
There will be vas increase in Taxi drivers' earnings, food vendors/restaurant operators, Hotel operators among others will have their cut from the newly commissioned Airport.
This will save time and money of many business men in the Northern part of Ghana who trade internationally from moving a long way to the country's regional capital, Accra to board international flight.
May Allah bless our Pilgrims and the flight crew with travel mercies.
We thank Allah for this day.
