Two children have drowned in a river at Adansi Fumso in the Eastern Region, Isaac Normanyo has reported on Adom FM's Dwaso Nsem Friday June 17.
He says the children drowned Thursday after they had swum in a river in the community.
Kofi Nii Duodu, 5, and Kwaku Emma, 4 who got drowned are
from one family.
Reports say four children went swimming in the river but nearby
residents were able to rescue two.
Father of one of the drowned kids says the incident happened
after their grandmother whom they are staying with had left to the market to
buy food for them.
He told Adom FM’s Morning Show host Captain Kwadwo Smart that
the other victim is his elder sister who is lining the North’s son.
Their father who lives in Accra was shocked to hear that the
children had drowned because “none of them had stepped a foot in a river before”.
Meanwhile, Isaac Normanyo has reported that some residents
have fingered some youth who went to spin and swim at the river bank for
drawing the children’s attention to the venue.
