RELEASE: May 25th declared Republic holiday

Ghana's Interior Ministry has declared Wednesday May 25th this year, a holiday to mark African Union Day. 

A statement signed by Interior Minister Prosper D. K. Bani urges all public institutions to observe the day as a Statutory Public Holiday. 

On this day, many African countries celebrate the hard-fought achievement of their freedom from European colonial powers.
