At least forty-eight passenger are reported dead in a bus accident
at Kintampo in the Brong-Ahafo Region.
Adom FM’s Kintampo correspondent Wiafe Akenten reports that none
of the passengers on board of the bus survived.
There are no ambulances to convey the victims to hospital Wiafe
said.
Meanwhile reports say there were about sixty passengers on board.
The accident involves a Metro Mass bus with registration
number AS 7131 Y going to Tamale collided
with a cargo which was carrying boxes of tomatoes.
However, only the truck driver assistant is alive but he is
stacked in the truck, Wiafe Akenten reports.
Some residents, personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, Police Service and Military are making efforts to rescue one person trapped in the truck who is suspected to be its 'mate'.
But Kintampo Municipal Police Commander Chief Superintendent
Desmond Boampong told Adom FM’s Captain Smart that he
cannot confirm how many lives has been lost because many of the victims to the
Kintampo Government Hospital whilst some lifeless bodies have been conveyed to
the morgue.
