Six arrested in relation to 'Antoa Nyama' Shrine theft

Six people stationed to protect the shrine of the powerful deity ‘Antoa Nyama’ have been arrested by the Police, reports say.

Thieves invaded Antoa Nyama’s strong room of the powerful god and took away gold ornaments and other valuables in the Kwabre East of the Ashanti region.

The gold ornaments and the other valuables stolen by the thieves are worth thousands of cedis.

It is not quite clear when exactly the raid occurred, though it came to light on Wednesday, according to a report.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Emmanuel Aduboahen, Kenyasi District Police Commander
who confirmed the incident saying the theft was strange, judging from where the strong room is located.

DSP Aduboahen said the suspects had been granted police enquiry bail to assist in investigations, but did not mention the names.

Some sources at the shrine also revealed that people hardly went into the strong room and that the last time the chief custodian visited there, was four years ago.
