A teenage mother of twins, Philomena
Marfua, cannot breastfeed her two girls due to a serious heart condition that
was detected at the Comboni Hospital in Sogakope in the South Tongu District.
The 16-year-old mother told Joy
News’ Ivy Setordjie on her hospital bed that the school boy who got her
pregnant has run away after she broke news of her pregnancy to him.
Philomena’s grandmother, with who
she lives, does not work – making it difficult for the woman to cater for her
and the new borns.
Both of Philomena’s parents have
died.
Philomena’s grandmother is appealing
to the public to come to the aid of the granddaughter in order for her to
undergo the heart surgery.
According to the officer in-charge
of midwifery at the Comboni Hospital, Veronica Parko, has been going through
severe pains since she delivered her babies.
Madam Parko says Philomena Marfua
needs help urgently.
