SCHOOL AUTHORITIES DENY RECEIPT OF MEDICATED GLASSES TO SHORT SIGHTED KIDS; REQUESTS FOR MEDICAL REPORT

School Authorities of Soda Domeabra DA Primary School has denied the receipt of the medicated glasses by the Short sighted children claiming that is an order from her boss in charge of special education.

According to Mrs Seduinam Aborchie who happens to be the Headmistress of the school, Mr. Emmanuel Agbenorxevi, Special Education Coordinator for Ghana Education Service, Tease branch ordered her not to allow us give the medicated glasses to the children until a medical report on the kids are provided.

Mrs Seduinam says this medical report will be kept on the children's file for future reference.

Meanwhile, the kids' patient folders as well as the medicated glasses prescriptions which bears date and prescriptions by a doctor were all present.

Adom TV News Roving Reporter Samuel Sefa says he has been to the school twice to deliver the medicated glasses and a sum of GH¢4000 to the kids and mother respectively but all these effort proved futile though their mother Comfort Oforiwaa was present to receive them.

The reporter has then sent a request to Dr. Edward Yeboah, the Ophthalmologist who prescribed that the kids should be given those medicated glasses.

Meanwhile, Janet Nkansah and Danquah Isaiah are still in the situation where they lie on the floor in front of their blackboard before they can write in their notebooks and work books from the board.

They also hold each other’s hands when walking to avoid falling.

They were on 31st March, 2015 sent to the Agogo Presbyterian Hospital by the reporter and their mother, Comfort.

That is when the medicated glasses were prescribed for them but Dr. Jacques Kemabia, Head of the Eye treatment center and Dr. Kennedy Opoku, an Ophthalmologist say the kids would have to be sent Akuropong Special School for eye correction if the glasses in the long run doesn't help perfectly.
